Peoples’ Health, an organisation of health professionals, held a press conference at Calcutta Press Club on December 25 at 1 pm protesting Dr. Binayak Sen’s conviction.
Lekhak Shilpi Buddhijibi Manch, a platform of intellectuals and cultural activists will a press conference at Press Club on December 27 at 5 pm.
A preparatory meeting involving representatives from TASAM (Teachers and Scientists Against Maldevelopment), FAMA (Forum Against Monopolist Agression), Shramajibi Swasthya Udyog, AWBSRU ( All West Bengal Sales Representatives’ Union), NTUI and students from Jadavpur University was held on December 25 at 6 pm. It has been decided that
A committee would be formed to campaign against Dr. Sen’s conviction.
A meeting involving more organisations would be held on January 3, 2011.
A leaflet would be printed soon.
A photo-feature describing Dr. Sen’s life and work would be developed.
A booklet would be published.
The ongoing online signature campaign would be forwarded to all possible contacts.
Petitions to MPs for their support for Dr. Sen were being considered.
3 hall meetings and 3 street corners would be held at Salt Lake, Central Calcutta and South Calcutta.
All these effort would culminate in a central convention demanding Dr. Sen’s release.
A meeting will be held at Salt Lake protesting Dr. Sen’s conviction on December 28.
On December 27 the West Bengal chapter of NAPM will discuss their course of action on this matter at 3 pm.
