Support for the PUCL & also continuing pressure from activists worldwide sends a strong message to the Indian government that Adivasi citizens should expect complete protection, this is obviously not the case and with jailed peaceful activists like Dr Sen and many other political prisoners held under draconian "laws", the urgent need for proper democracy which respects all is long overdue.

The CRPP (Committee for the release of Political Prisoners)
has tried to lobby the Indian government to recognise the separate category of Political Prisoners.

India has ratified the International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights (1979). Political Prisoners though seem to lack protection as Indian Legislation has not been adapted
to recognise this discrepancy.
