Chhattisgarh DGP calls for Dr. Binayak Sen’s release

On September 27, 2008, Chhattisgarh DGP Vishwa Ranjan signed a postcard demanding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh release Dr. Binayak Sen. The DGP was speaking at a conference on Indian democracy at UC Berkeley, where he stated that he did not have the capacity to release Sen, noting on the postcard “This should be sent to the gov, not to a police officer.”
