Tamilandu M.P. writes to the Prime Minister
13 May 2008
Hon’ble Sir,
Namaskar.
Subject: Steps to be taken to release on Parole for Dr. Binayak Sen to attend Jonathan Man Award Ceremony on 29th May 2008.
It gives me great pleasure to bring to your kind attention that the selection of well-known humanitarian doctor, Dr. Binayak Sen of Raipur, Chattisgarh for the 2008 Jonathan Mann Award for Health and Human Rights.
Dr. Sen, whose efforts in Chhatisgarh over a period of 30 years, have aimed to ensure that no child goes hungry, and that the rights of even the poorest Indians are duly respected, is the first South Asian to be accorded this prestigious award.
It is a matter of great irony however that in this moment of national pride and honour, Dr. Sen is in his twelfth month of incarceration in Raipur Central Jail, detained on absurd and patently false charges of aiding unlawful and terrorist activities. He was arrested on 14 May 2007 under the Chattisgarh Special Police Security Act, a draconian legislation that violates both the democratic spirit and content of the Indian Constitution.
Dr. Binayak Sen does his periodic MD from Vellore, CMC, Tamil Nadu so is famous among doctors in CMC. They all are raising the issue of his release. He was unnecessarily arrested by the BJP Government of Chhatisgarh and detained him for the past one year.
Hence, I humbly request the Hon’ble Prime Minister to take suitable necessary steps to release, Dr. Binayak Sen on Parole by Chhatisgarh Government and to attend the Jonathan Man Award Ceremony which is going to be held on 29th May 2008 at Washington, DC in Global Health and Human Rights International Conference.
With warm regards,
Yours sincerely,
S.K. Kharventhan.M.P.

Like the late labor leader Shankar Guha Niyogi Dr Binayak Sen is being targeted because he dedicated his life and skills in the service of people. It is thus the millions of poor against whom the BJP govt of ChGarh has declared war and proved itself to be implacably anti-national and
inhuman. This set of outlaws deserves to be sacked before it brings more shame and commits more crimes. Sack it, save India. UPA must act fast.
it is heartening that there is a beacon of hope in the meandering maze of anti-people politicians,Mr.Karvendan could take up the right cause. Kudos to him.
